Fabric Care Instructions

Felt and upholstery should be cleaned with a cloth dampened with water and, if necessary, using mild cleaning agents. Dilute the cleaning agent with water according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and apply it to the soiled areas with a soft sponge or cloth. Do not use agents containing alcohol, acetone, bleach or other solvents. In case of heavy contamination, use mild soap or a special upholstery cleaning agent. Avoid scratching, pressing, or rubbing the cleaned surface to prevent damage to its structure.

Metal Components

Wipe exterior walls and other metal components with a cloth dampened with a mild all-purpose cleaning agent. Do not use agents containing alcohol, acetone or other solvents. After cleaning, wipe all surfaces dry.

Glass

Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the glass. Remove heavier contamination with liquid without ammonia.

System Furniture

Use a soft, dampened cloth for system furniture care. If soiling is heavy, soak the cloth in liquid or a mild furniture cleaning agent. Any whiteboard should be cleaned regularly with a special dry-erase cleaner, at least once a week or more often, depending on how often it is used.

Lighting
Hanging lamps and LED lighting should be wiped with a dry cloth, taking special care to avoid accidental damage or scratching.

Description

Most whiteboards are hidden behind a door or hung in the room nobody photographs. The Lintex Area is built for the wall you do photograph: the reception, the boardroom, the meeting room with the glass front onto the floor. It is a magnetic glass writing board mounted so the glass floats inside a solid oak frame with a shadow gap all the way round, the way a canvas sits inside its frame. Blank, it is a panel of colour in oak. In use, it is one of the best writing surfaces you can put on a wall.

Glass that stays clean and colour that stays true

The surface is tempered low-iron glass. Low-iron matters more than it sounds: ordinary float glass carries a green tint that dulls whatever is behind it, so a white board goes slightly grey and a coloured one goes muddy. Low-iron glass has that tint removed, which is why Lintex's twenty-four colours look the same on the wall as they do on the sample.

Because glass is non-porous, marker ink sits on the surface rather than soaking in. There is no ghosting after a year of daily use, and the permanent marker comes off with a dry-wipe pen written over the top. The board is magnetic throughout; use neodymium magnets, which we supply, as standard office magnets are too weak for glass.

Sizes

Area is made in Lintex's standard board sizes. [List the sizes Furnify will offer, e.g. 1000 x 1000, 1500 x 1000, 2000 x 1000 mm; the 1528 x 1028 mm frame size in the EPD corresponds to the 1500 x 1000 mm board.] For a six-person meeting room, the 1500 x 1000 mm board is the usual choice; for a boardroom or a wall people present from, go to 2000 mm wide. Send us the wall dimensions and we will recommend a size.

Sustainability, with the numbers

Area has a published Environmental Product Declaration (EPD International, S-P-06990), which is rare for a whiteboard and useful if you are documenting a fit-out for BREEAM, SKA or WELL. The declared climate footprint for the 1528 x 1028 mm board is 61.7 kg CO2e across raw materials, transport and manufacture (A1–A3, GWP-IOBC). Sixteen per cent of the material is renewable and thirteen per cent recycled; the oak is FSC Mix certified (FSC-C170086); spare parts are available, so a damaged frame or fixing does not mean a new board. Lintex operates under ISO 14001:2015 and holds FSC Chain of Custody certification (DNV-COC-002282). We can supply the EPD document with your order.

A solid oak frame, made to be seen

The frame is solid oak, FSC Mix certified, with the grain left visible. The glass is set forward of the frame with a gap between them, so light falls into the gap and the board reads as a framed object rather than a slab fixed to plasterboard. Designed by the Stockholm studio Halleroed, whose work for Lintex also includes the Frame family, Area is the quieter of the two: no pen shelf, no bentwood curve, just the proportion of the frame and the colour of the glass.

If you want a pen shelf built into the frame, look at the Frame Whiteboard. If you want a deeper, more sculptural frame with the glass recessed, the Offset Wall Glass Whiteboard is the one. Area sits between them.

Area Oak Framed Glass Whiteboard With Pink Glass

Gloss or matte, in twenty-four colours

Area comes in all of Lintex's standard MOOD-GLASS® and SILK-GLASS® finishes. MOOD-GLASS® is gloss: deeper colour, reflective, the finish most people picture when they think of a glass whiteboard. SILK-GLASS® is matte: the same colour range with the reflection taken out, so it reads clearly under downlights and on video calls, and it takes marker with a little more grip. If the room has a window opposite the board or a camera pointed at it, choose SILK-GLASS®.

The colour range runs from white and soft greys through muted greens, blues and terracottas to black. We can send glass samples so you can check a colour against your wall finish and joinery before ordering.
