What’s the difference between electric, crank and fixed-height desks?

Crank (manual) desks adjust by handle, cost less, and suit positions that are set once per user. Fixed-height desks don’t adjust but can share the same bench frame, letting you mix all three across one bank.

How much space does a sit-stand bench take compared with fixed benches?

The footprint is broadly the same — back-to-back and inline configurations match standard bench desking dimensions. Allow extra clearance behind standing users, and check the monitor arm's reach at full height. We space-plan this as part of every project.

How is cabling managed when the desk moves?

Sit-stand benches use rising cable trays, vertical cable spines or flexible risers so power and data travel with the surface. This is specified at order — retrofitting cable management to a moving desk is far harder, so it’s worth getting right the first time.

Are electric sit-stand desks safe?

What's the difference between a height-adjustable workstation and a single height-adjustable desk?

A height-adjustable workstation in a bench layout shares its frame, cable management and desk screens with neighbouring positions, while each user still controls their own height. It suits teams and open-plan offices. For individual offices or standalone positions, our single desks may be a better fit.

How much weight can an electric height-adjustable desk lift?

It depends on the frame. Dual-motor frames generally lift more than single-motor frames, which matters if a position carries several monitors or heavy equipment. We'll confirm the load capacity for every range we quote.

Does every electric desk need its own power socket?

Each electric position needs power for its motor. In a bench layout, this is usually routed through the shared cable management alongside users' own power and data, so there are no trailing cables. We'll plan power at the specification stage, including options such as sustainable power modules.

Do sit-stand desks meet DSE requirements?

There's no legal requirement for sit-stand desks, but they can help. HSE guidance asks employers to give display screen users breaks or changes of activity, and an adjustable desk makes changing posture part of the working day. A sit-stand desk doesn't replace a DSE workstation assessment, which should still be carried out for each user.

Can we introduce electric desks in phases?
