Fabric Care Instructions

Felt and upholstery should be cleaned with a cloth dampened with water and, if necessary, using mild cleaning agents. Dilute the cleaning agent with water according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and apply it to the soiled areas with a soft sponge or cloth. Do not use agents containing alcohol, acetone, bleach or other solvents. In case of heavy contamination, use mild soap or a special upholstery cleaning agent. Avoid scratching, pressing, or rubbing the cleaned surface to prevent damage to its structure.

Metal Components

Wipe exterior walls and other metal components with a cloth dampened with a mild all-purpose cleaning agent. Do not use agents containing alcohol, acetone or other solvents. After cleaning, wipe all surfaces dry.

Glass

Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the glass. Remove heavier contamination with liquid without ammonia.

System Furniture

Use a soft, dampened cloth for system furniture care. If soiling is heavy, soak the cloth in liquid or a mild furniture cleaning agent. Any whiteboard should be cleaned regularly with a special dry-erase cleaner, at least once a week or more often, depending on how often it is used.

Lighting
Hanging lamps and LED lighting should be wiped with a dry cloth, taking special care to avoid accidental damage or scratching.

A mid-century silhouette, redrawn

The Rana started from a familiar shape and asked what would happen if you gave it twice the upholstery. The proportions still read as mid-century from across a room — low back, open stance, legs on show — but everything between the frame and the fabric has been rebuilt for comfort rather than period accuracy. It’s a chair people recognise before they sit in it, and then find it is softer than they expected.

Its name comes from the Latin for frog, which sounds like a joke until you see one in a room. The reference is to poise, not shape: weight settled low, nothing perched or precarious, a stillness that upright lounge chairs never quite manage. The Rana looks like it has decided to stay.

The trim is the detail worth specifying

A fine trim line follows the upholstery seams around the seat and arms. It’s a small thing that does a lot: it holds the volume in a defined edge, so a chair this soft still reads as tailored rather than slumped.

It’s also the first decision to make. Matched to the body, the trim disappears, and the Rana becomes a quiet piece that takes its cue from the fabric. Contrasted, the seams draw the silhouette in outline, and the chair holds its own against a plain wall or a glazed partition — useful in reception, where one well-chosen chair does more than three anonymous ones.

Volume without sprawl

The seat is generously shaped, and the armrests are padded through rather than framed, so the chair gives where a firmer lounge chair pushes back. Sit down into it, and the contours do the work — there’s no perching on the front edge waiting for a meeting to end. What it doesn’t do is spread. The footprint stays contained, which is the difference between specifying four of these around a low table and specifying two. In a breakout area, that’s a headcount question. In a quiet room, where the chair has to coexist with a side table and a door swing, it’s the difference between the room working and the room being full.

Where the Rana works

Reception and waiting areas. It photographs well, and it makes a good first impression, but the real argument is that people wait in it comfortably. A reception chair that’s uncomfortable after eight minutes is a reception chair nobody sits in.
