Nunc Dika Armchair

The Dika Armchair by Nunc is a quietly considered piece — a contemporary reinterpretation of a mid-century Danish form, designed by Tak Kolektiv and handcrafted in Slavonia, Croatia. Its solid oak or American walnut frame wraps a foam-and-steel seat in warm, rounded curves, while a distinctive lumbar break delivers genuine ergonomic support. The name itself means pride in the Slavonian dialect. It shows.

Care information

helping reduce staining

Upholstery:

Fabrics are extremely delicate; therefore, it is very important to carefully review the suggested wash and pay attention when using them, as they can be ripped or cut. We provide wear guarantees from our partners, who manufacture textiles and leather; however, without proper care and attention, they can look old and dirty well before their time. In extreme cases, they could even wear through and a hole might appear. If you care about your fabric and leather in the workplace and contract interiors, following a few simple rules can add years to their wear life and appearance, making them the most visually appealing element of furniture.

Wool and Viscose:

Vacuum your fabrics regularly to prevent dust and dirt from building up on the surface. Quickly react to spilt liquids and fresh stains. Mop up the excess liquid using a kitchen roll or a damp cloth. Then clean using a shampoo, detergent, or hand wash. Always use a branded shampoo for upholstered fabrics. Alternatively, both wool and polyester can be dry cleaned. For areas with spills or stains, a stain-repellent finish can be applied to certain fabrics, reducing stains. Alternatively, choose a wipe-down upholstery solution.

Leather:

Leathers are extremely delicate; therefore, it is very important to carefully review the suggested wash and pay attention when using them, as they can be ripped or cut. Exposing in spaces with a high humidity level might cause structural damage. Never use detergents on solvent-based or acetone-based cleaners. Clean with a soft cloth with warm water. Do not wash leather in the washing machine, dry it in the dryer, do not bleach it, iron it, or dry-clean it.

Wood:

Wipe the product with a dry, lint-free cloth. Dirty surfaces should be cleaned with a damp cotton cloth or neutral detergent, preferably diluted in water, and then wiped dry with a dry cloth. Water should be used sparingly. If liquid does not spill on the product, wipe it off immediately; it could be absorbed. Do not place hot objects directly on the surface; use coasters. Products should not be placed near heat sources, such as radiators or fireplaces. If the surface treated with oil becomes dry, maintenance oil may be applied.

Description

Designed with Meaning

Dika is not simply a chair. It is a piece of furniture with a story embedded in its name. In the Slavonian dialect, dika means pride — a word chosen deliberately by Tak Kolektiv, a Croatian design collective, to anchor this piece in the culture and landscape from which it emerged. That pride is evident in every detail: the locally sourced timber, the considered proportions, the balance of softness and structure.

Tak Kolektiv was founded in 2015 by three designers whose collaborative practice spans product, graphic, and spatial design. Their work has earned recognition at the Red Dot, iF Design Award, and the German Design Award 2024 — the last of which Dika itself received. It is not an armchair that went unnoticed.

The Form

Dika takes the spirit of Danish mid-century seating — its economy of line, its warmth of material, its refusal of excess — and brings it into the present. The silhouette is familiar in the best possible way: curved where it needs to yield, straight where it needs to hold, and always unmistakably resolved.

The interplay between rounded and rectilinear elements creates visual tension in Dika. Nothing is arbitrary. The break at the lumbar area is the detail that separates this chair from the merely handsome — it creates genuine lower-back relief, a functional decision carried with complete formal confidence.

Materials and Construction

The seat and backrest are built around a cold steel frame, wrapped in high-density foam for lasting comfort. The outer structure is solid wood — available in oiled oak or oiled American walnut — finished in either matt acrylic lacquer or natural oil, both chosen to enhance and protect the timber's natural grain.

Nunc sources its oak directly from Slavonia, a region whose forests have supplied European craftspeople for centuries. The result is a chair that is materially coherent: the wood is not decorative trim applied to a hidden chassis, but the primary structural and visual element, shaped and finished to stand on its own quality.

Upholstery is available in fabric or leather, across a palette that includes Lead, Tuscany, Wedgwood, Girder, and Wine, among others — enough range to sit naturally within most commercial and residential interior schemes.
