The S 5000 Privacy Seating features a base of bent tubular steel based on the archetype of the minimalist sofa, which was first added to the Thonet portfolio in the 1930s.
The designer James Irvine developed the versatile S 5000 sofa system so that it can be used in a variety of interiors.
The S 5000 soft seating range utilises a simple, intelligent construction with a modular principle. Inspired by the ever-increasing fusion of working and living spaces, Studio Irvine refined the seating to fit into the modern working environment. They added structurally identical arms and backrests or dividing surround panels to serve as an acoustic and privacy barrier. This makes the S 5000 Privacy Sofa expandable in various ways, and thanks to its variable side panels, it can also be used in open-plan offices. The panels create a frame for multiple cushions, which can be loosely put in the desired place. The furniture range also provides optional small laptop support tables that can be fitted to the tubular steel frame. This creates entire sofa landscapes that are modularly expandable and adaptable.
