Fabric Care Instructions

Felt and upholstery should be cleaned with a cloth dampened with water and, if necessary, using mild cleaning agents. Dilute the cleaning agent with water according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and apply it to the soiled areas with a soft sponge or cloth. Do not use agents containing alcohol, acetone, bleach or other solvents. In case of heavy contamination, use mild soap or a special upholstery cleaning agent. Avoid scratching, pressing, or rubbing the cleaned surface to prevent damage to its structure.

Metal Components

Wipe exterior walls and other metal components with a cloth dampened with a mild all-purpose cleaning agent. Do not use agents containing alcohol, acetone or other solvents. After cleaning, wipe all surfaces dry.

Glass

Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the glass. Remove heavier contamination with liquid without ammonia.

System Furniture

Use a soft, dampened cloth for system furniture care. If soiling is heavy, soak the cloth in liquid or a mild furniture cleaning agent. Any whiteboard should be cleaned regularly with a special dry-erase cleaner, at least once a week or more often, depending on how often it is used.

Lighting
Hanging lamps and LED lighting should be wiped with a dry cloth, taking special care to avoid accidental damage or scratching.

A fully enclosed 1-person work pod for focus and calls

The Mute Work Pod 1.5x1 provides a quiet, private room for one person within an open-plan office. Use it for deep work, video calls, confidential conversations or a few minutes away from the noise. It's the smallest fully enclosed room in the Mute Modular system. It takes up 1.9 m² of floor space, so it fits where a meeting room never could.

Inside, the user gets a 1,515 x 1,010 mm room with 2,250 mm of headroom. That's enough for a desk, a chair and room to move, without the cramped feel of a phone booth.

Finishes

The pod is available in seven Mute colours: Moon White, Ash Gray, Void Black, Sand Beige, Clay Red, Sage Green and Ink Blue. It also comes in Oak Vicenza. Inside, choose acoustic fabric, rPET felt or Vescom wallpaper. Glass options include toughened (ESG), laminated (VSG) and fluted glass. Ask us for samples.

Accessible by design

The door opens to 180° and has a 910 mm clear opening. The threshold is a chamfered 6 mm and the handle runs the full height of the door. Mute designs the system to meet the UK Disability Discrimination Act guidance on handle heights, thresholds and control positions.

Modular, reconfigurable and sustainable

The pod isn't a single fixed booth. It's built from Mute's prefabricated aluminium wall and ceiling modules, which click together without tools. Later, the same modules can be rearranged, extended into a larger room or joined to other Mute rooms in a hub. You can also take the pod apart and rebuild it in a new office.

The frame is extruded aluminium, which is fully recyclable. The wood is FSC certified and the felt and Gabriel fabric are made from 100% recycled PET. The system has CE marking and complies with RoHS and REACH. It's made in an ISO 9001 certified factory. Mute Modular won Best of NeoCon 2023 Gold and was a Fast Company Innovation by Design 2024 Honoree.

Fire performance

The finishes are tested to EN 13501-1. Powder-coated steel is rated A2-s1, d0, and the glass and Gabriel fabric are rated B-s1, d0. On request, Mute can pre-cut openings for sprinkler heads or smoke detectors so the pod can meet your building's fire strategy.

Delivery, installation and site requirements

The Mute Work Pod is made to order. It arrives flat-packed in recyclable cardboard and our installation team assembles it on site. Before ordering, check that your space has:

a ceiling at least 200 mm above the top of the pod (about 2,580 mm from the floor)
a level floor, with no more than 20 mm variation under the pod
a spot at least 500 mm from radiators or heaters, out of direct sunlight
a nearby 13 A power supply

Warranty

Mute gives a 5-year guarantee on the structure. Finishes, door parts and electrical parts are covered for 2 years. To keep the warranty valid, the pod needs a service inspection every 6 months, which our team can carry out.

How soundproof is the Mute Work Pod?

The pod is rated Class A to ISO 23351-1, the international standard for measuring speech privacy in office pods. Three things work together to keep conversations in and office noise out:

Sound insulation. The walls and ceiling have separate insulating and absorbing layers. A solid steel wall module achieves up to Rw 48 dB.
Sound absorption. The felt or fabric walls and perforated steel ceiling are Class A absorbers (αw 0.95–1.0). This keeps reverberation to 0.1–0.5 seconds, well below the 0.6 seconds recommended for speech, so calls sound clear and natural.
Gentle background sound. The ventilation produces a soft, whisper-like sound of 37 dB or less inside. It helps mask speech without becoming a distraction.

Fresh air, light and power built in

Every closed Mute room has mechanical supply and exhaust ventilation in the ceiling. It delivers at least 10 air changes per hour and at least 60 m³ of air per person per hour, more than twice the usual standard for occupied rooms. That keeps CO₂ low and the pod comfortable on long calls. An optional CO₂ and temperature sensor can automatically run the fans. An integrated linear LED lamp lights the pod. The user can dim it from 30–100% and tune it from warm 2,700 K to cool 5,000 K on the touch control panel. An occupancy sensor switches the lighting and ventilation on when someone enters, and off three minutes after they leave. Power is fed through a single electric ceiling module. The wall-mounted power unit can carry UK BS 1363 sockets, a 25 W USB A+C charger and an RJ45 data port, so laptops and headsets stay charged.
