The S 64 Cantilever Chair with arms and S 32 without armrests are Thonet's most famous tubular steel classics. The combination of new and old make the seating popular: Thonet's tradition of using characteristic Vienna wickerwork with bentwood furniture contrast with the revolutionary use of tubular steel. Thonet's speciality is making seating out of bent solid wood with wickerwork, and the tubular frame represents the present and future.
With their versatility, they come to be the bestselling cantilever chairs to this day. The Designer Marcel Breuer designed the S 32 and S 64 while in Berlin in 1928. Thonet has been producing both models under licence since 1930. Due to their minimal aesthetic and airy wickerwork, the classics fit into the a diverse range of interiors, from meeting rooms and collaboration spaces to restaurants and private homes.
